How to choose batteries
Pick the voltage your inverter runs on first: 12 V and 24 V for vans and small cabins, 48 V for most off-grid homes and shops. Then decide where the battery lives in January. Lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) shouldn't be charged below freezing unless it has a heater, so an unheated shed needs a heated pack or an insulated box. If you want closed-loop charging, check that the battery is on your inverter's supported list.
