Off-Grid Inverters and Inverter-Chargers

How to choose off-grid inverters and inverter-chargers

An inverter turns battery power into household AC. An inverter-charger does that and also charges the battery from shore power or a generator. Pick the battery voltage first, 12 V or 24 V for a van, cabin or small shop. Then size the continuous output on what runs at the same time, and the surge on what starts hard, like a well pump or a fridge compressor. Idle draw matters off-grid, because the inverter uses it all night.
